As part of the easimix unique service we offer a comprehensive range of options to help you get the concrete or screed to the desired location with the minimum of effort and inconvenience. When considering your project you need to consider the best way to get the material into place taking into account all factors. As a professional company we are very conscious of our obligations to minimise inconvenience to all parties and ensure that yours and our best interests are protected at all times. Remember we do offer a free site inspection service.
The following may help you when considering your project.
1. Truck Access
• Is it wide enough - generally we need a minimum of 2.5m to access a site.
• Can we get the truck in with out damaging yours or someone elses ground. Generally we will not go onto someone's existing driveway or premises unless the person who owns that driveway / premises provides written permission to do so.
• That no cables, telephone lines etc are low over the access point - typically we need 14ft (4.3m) clearance.
• Does the route involve us crossing over buried drainage lines, conduits etc? - protection needs to be considered (by you) to avoid any damage.
• Are there over hanging trees or structures that may be damaged by the truck or damage the truck.
• Can we park on the main highway without blocking the road. Using the path isn't permitted and should only be considered as a last resort.
2. If the truck can get in and is within 3m of the work area then we will probably be able to place the concrete at the back of the base / footing and work forward making it very easy for you. Our maximum standard reach is approx 6m from the truck.
3. If the truck has to remain off site due to access then you have a number of options to get the concrete or screed where you want it,
• You can organise labour to wheel barrow the concrete from the truck. Typically speaking 3.0m3 will take 30 minutes to barrow using 3 men constantly barrowing.
• We can provide our wheel barrow service where we supply the labour and barrows to get the concrete in for you to level and finish.
• For larger jobs or where distance is an issue we can provide our dumper service where we supply a suitable dumper and trained operator to get the concrete in for you to level and finish.
• For mass infill contracts or where access, ground conditions etc will not allow for barrow or dumper or where large quantities required we offer a full concrete pumping service. We supply the pump and manage the whole operation to completion. All you do is have 2 men on site to move the pump lines into position as required. Depending on project and budgets we supply both ground line pumps and boom pumps.
4. Always bear in mind time...we offer the longest site time of any supplier in the area. We are never to 5 minutes but, as we hope people can understand, we do have the next job to go to. To avoid charges for standing time make sure you have enough labour to constantly transfer the concrete to the base / footing leaving others to level it. Don't try to put the final finish on the concrete while we are on site. This isnt good practise on trowelled concrete, you need to let bleed water dissapate first or you will make the initial concrete surface very wet and weak. You will also go over the allocated 10minutes per m3 we offer as standard and incurr standing charges.
5. Mix - all our concrete and screed mixes are designed for purpose. The only variable in any mix is the amount of water. Simplistically speaking the more added to a mix is the easier it is to level but the weaker it becomes. This particular affects surface strength where bleed water is not allowed to dissapate before finishing. The key is to keep the water content down as much as possible and use correct finishing techniques. |
